| Age and growth of lemon sole (Microstomus kitt) were determined from 115 specimens collected in the Celtic Sea and in the North Sea in 2006 and 2007. Total length is ranged from 11 to 44 cm, while total weight varied between 12 and 1040 g. Age estimation was based on otoliths readings. The oldest male and female were estimated to be 9 years old. The length–weight relationships parameters for lemon sole in the Celtic Sea and in the North Sea were W=0.0043*TL3.2860 and W=0.0062*TL3.1505 respectively. Weight including both sexes increased with positive allometric growth. | ABSTRACT The rough scad, Trachurus lathami Nichols, 1920, is a small pelagic species distributed along the West Atlantic coast. It is most abundant in the Southern Brazil (28°30’-34°S) and in the Southeastern Brazilian Bight (SEBB, 22°-28°30’S). The rough scad is fished by purse seines, which main target is the Brazilian sardine, Sardinella brasiliensis (Steindachner, 1879). | O crescimento de Aegla jarai foi analisado com objetivo de contribuir com informações referentes ao perfil bio-ecológico do caranguejo. As coletas foram realizadas de julho de 2001 a setembro de 2002 no Ribeirão Espíngarda, localizado no Parque Nacional da Serra do Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brasil. Os espécimes foram separados por sexo e medidos quanto ao comprimento do cefalotórax e, após a biometria, devolvidos ao ribeirão. | O estudo do crescimento em largura da carapaça de Chasmagnathus granulatus Dana, 1851 foi baseado em dados de 1940 exemplares coletados na Lagoa do Peixe, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. As coletas foram realizadas de julho/1994 a junho/1995. Os caranguejos foram coletados manualmente nas margens da lagoa e em laboratório foram separados por sexo e a largura da carapaça mensurada. O modelo de von Bertalanffy foi utilizado para a descrição do crescimento. As curvas de crescimento em largura (mm), para dados obtidos através da progressão modal, são descritas pelas equações: Lt= 44,69 [1- e -0.0066(t+20,45)] e Lt= 37,63 [1- e -0.0072(t+21,92)], resultando em idades máximas estimadas de 2 anos para ambos os sexos. |

| RESUMOObjetivou-se com este trabalho comparar o padrão de crescimento, mediante ajustes das respectivas curvas de crescimento por modelos não lineares, bem como estudar o desenvolvimento de cortes de carcaça em relação ao peso da carcaça em diferentes genótipos de frangos tipo caipira. Foram utilizados 840 pintos de um dia, machos, distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, dos seguintes genótipos da linhagem Redbro: Caboclo, Carijó, Colorpak, Gigante Negro, Pesadão Vermelho, Pescoço Pelado e Tricolor. | Foram discutidas as propriedades de sete modelos não-lineares, considerando-se o ajuste de curvas de crescimento na produção animal. Os modelos utilizados: Brody, Richards, Von Bertalanffy e duas alternativas de Gompertz e de Logístico foram ajustados, pelo método de Gauss Newton por meio do procedimento NLIN do SAS, a dados peso-idade de oito espécies: camarão-d'água-doce, rã-pimenta, coelho, frango, ovino, caprino, suíno e bovino. | Based on field data, this study presents the growth curve of Balloniscus glaber Araujo & Zardo, 1995, a terrestrial isopod species found in Parque Estadual de Itapuã (PEI), Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Specimens were monthly sampled, from May 2004 to April 2005, at PEI. Captured individuals were sexed, their cephalothorax width was measured, and the growth curve was described according to von Bertalanffy's model. | Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the development of the morphometric characteristics of Mangalarga Marchador horses through nonlinear models. The transversal method was used to collect data on height at the withers (HW), body length (BL), and thoracic (TP) and cannon (CP) perimeters from 200 horses (75 males and 125 non-pregnant females), aged between 6 and 153 months.
